Most of Governor Dikko Umar Radda’s appointments have been
described as square pegs in square holes. Nothing could be as true as they
above statement in relation to the appointment of Dr. Tukur Hassan Tingilin,
PhD, as the Managing Director of the State Water Board. Dr. Tingling’s
impressive CV made him more than qualified to serve in the water resources
sector particularly considering the level of systemic inefficiency inherited by the Radda administration
in the sector.
These included an obsolete water generation, sanitation and
distribution system and several uncompleted projects that range from the piping
and connection of distribution channels of the federal government’s Zobe dam
project to communities in Katsina and
environs, damaged water piping system within Katsina metropolis, and the acute
water shortage in almost all major towns in this state.
With decades of experience in practical engineering,
lecturing, administration, and educational background Dr. Tingilin was poised
to bring about the needed efficiency and transformation in the sector.
